Appellant filed a pro se petition for writ of error coram nobis seeking to overturn his conviction on a charge of burglary
committed in 1971 on a guilty plea. He was sentenced to imprisonment in the penitentiary for seventeen and one-half years
on December 9, 1974. He did not take a direct appeal to this Court from that conviction and sentence. In July, 1973, petitioner was convicted of the crime of rape and the jury fixed his punishment at fifty-six years in the
penitentiary. He appealed this rape conviction, and the judgment was affirmed by the Supreme Court on June 20, 1974. Tillis
v. State, 292 Ala. 521, 296 So.2d 892.
